In the bathroom, you can not only save water, but also energy. As a real estate agent in Innsbruck, I see hundreds of times a year how some owners and tenants achieve true savings miracles. That's why in this blog post I'll tell you how you can save over 500 euros in energy costs with small changes.
6 tips for less energy consumption in the bathroom
Tip #1: Shower instead of bath
A warm bath on cold winter days? Of course it's something pleasant, but bathing still requires about four times more energy than taking a shower. If you only shower off, you reduce your water consumption and lower the sewerage charges.
Tip #2: Shorten shower time
Who doesn't know it, the "short" shower becomes an extended wellness experience. However, if you shorten your shower time by just 2 minutes, you can save 117 euros and 162 kg ofCO2 per year.
Tip #3: Water-saving shower seal
A water-saving shower seal reduces the water flow per second, which means you need even less water. The savings potential here is 89 euros and 125 kgCO2 per year.
Tip #4: Attach aerator
Those who want to save even more water should consider fitting a jet regulator - also called an aerator. These attachments are fitted to taps and reduce the water flow from 15 litres to 7 litres. An annual saving of 93 euros and 89 kgCO2 is thus possible.
Tip #5: Repair dripping taps
Dripping taps are not only annoying, but also waste a lot of water. By repairing them, you can save about 20 euros a year.
Tip #6: Install WC stoppers
Flushing with a stopper reduces water consumption per flush from 9 to 3 litres. On the one hand, you save valuable drinking water and 64 euros per year.
If you follow these tips, you can save over 500 euros every year on energy costs in the bathroom alone. Thanks to my work as a real estate agent in Tyrol, I know that reducing energy costs has a positive impact on sales. If you, as a seller, show potential buyers low energy cost bills from the last few years, this additionally enhances the attractiveness of your property.
But property owners who are not thinking about selling can also benefit from these tips.
