One way to recognise a reputable real estate agent in Austria is the ImmoCard.
With the help of the ImmoCard, real estate fiduciaries, i.e. real estate brokers, property developers and/or property managers, prove to their clients that they are authorised to carry out their business and that they are professionally competent. The aim of the ImmoCard is to counteract the unauthorised practice of a trade. This means that with the help of the ImmoCard you should be able to see at a glance that a commercial real estate specialist is standing in front of you.
How do brokers get the ImmoCard?
Accordingly, you don't get the ImmoCard just like that. The WKO checks every application for certain criteria. Since 2014, one of these criteria has been a minimum real estate-specific training (for example, certified broker assistant according to ONR 43001-1). Applicants must also work for a company that has an active business licence as a real estate trustee.
What does the ImmoCard look like?
The ImmoCard itself comes in the form of a cheque card. A photo is shown on the card, as well as the name of the cardholder, the position in the company and the period of validity of the ImmoCard (2. years after issue). The company name, location, book number and the real estate trustee ID are also on the ImmoCard.
